getting organized

14 Dec

i decided to unload my ever growing “box of stuff that needs to be organized for portfolio/website/etc.” and to my suprise I’ve been quite busy. It was actually quite nostalgic and uplifiting to go through all my past work and remember each client and the ups and downs of all the projects. I even went so far as to lay them all out and photograph them as a better placeholder for my site as I develop it. Although I am feeling quite overwhelmed, this helped a lot to put my work in perspective. Here are some pics….

folksy

I am into Folky design right now. I know it’s been a bit of a fad in the past year. But sometimes it takes me some time to warm up to certain ideas. I love how folk design evokes a natural simple feeling. Simple shapes, but together become quite a complex design.

Graduation Invitations

Did these super fun and personal invites for my brother and sister-in-law as they were both graduating!! Would love to turn these into a series…would make great moving announcements or holiday cards, right?

Violet Amoureux

11 Jul

Here’s a little character I am working on — It’s Violet Amoureux, the craftiest girl you know! I’ve started her a website where I’ll post craft tutorials for kids…I am not exactly sure where I’m going to go with it, but I’m having fun imagining + creating her world. I especially love making outfits for her!

mommyhood

Recently, I just welcomed a little bambino into the world! Our precious little Fia is 6 weeks old and keeping us on our toes! I love every minute I have with her, but it can be really challenging figuring out how to take care of  this little person. Today for instance, my husband and I took her out to our first brunch — an activity we used to do every weekend and haven’t done since our little one arrived. It was fun, but Fia wanted to be out and held the entire time so she could look around…And so my continuing lesson in patience continued–I ate one-handed and while it was not ideal, I didn’t actually mind. I enjoyed how people reacted to her curious stares and was quite proud of her and of us too for having the courage to take this first step back into reality. Afterwards, we strolled over by the East River and then sat in the park. It was quite a nice morning I must say! What did you do on your first restaurant excursion out with your new baby? Was it successful? Any recommendations for our next outing?
